Oh I am familiar with the game. I have written on changki, the Korean form, and have a passing familiarity with the Chinese form. In each there are variations from the European form (e.g., a central border or river, the king can never leave his castle of nine spaces, an "artillery" piece --the po -- which must be screened to take an opposing player, the ability to use captives as defectors...)oh I do ramble on.
But really that was just an intellectual look and I play no sport that does not draw blood or cause pain... and Golf doesn't count. I held a U. S. National title in one sport fitting the above requirements (albeit masters). In sum, not interested in a game of chess.
This is more like a cyber-potluck supper. Bring something, anything -- a contribution -- to the feast and everyone will be happy. It must add to our collective knowledge. Content is more important, in my eyes, than frequency. No need to put people's teeth on edge. Surely you can roam the cyber-Pacific and bring back something related to the theme or spirit of TOTGM...action...adventure...period related.
You used a word (how I have seen that word used and abused for self-interest!) at the end of your post that indicates you'd like a ceasefire. Well, I understand ceasefires. I've been to Pammunjon.
