Question about Gooses (Geese? Goosi?) and WWII

I am looking for a web site or book that specifically deals with what role a Goose (or similar plane)would have played in WWII. I know they were used, like to spot subs or something. But I'd like to know a bit more detail about the subject. I know of a bunch of sites on the plane itself, but it's this subject in particular I need to research. Any recommendations?
