Session Start: Sat Jan 18 15:55:52 1997 *** Now talking in #TOTGM Hi Gayle! Been here long <^otter^> heyas *** ^otter^ sets mode: +mn *** MonkeyWmn is now known as GMonkey <^otter^> oops hang on *** ^otter^ sets mode: -mn *** ^otter^ sets mode: +o GMonkey <^otter^> there we go Ah, that's better. <^otter^> I hopped on at 7 my time <^otter^> hehehe Got a little anxious there, didn't ya? <^otter^> no kiddin! So, did you mail out that menu? <^otter^> the menus came from the 94th <^otter^> I put it in mail this morning Thanks. <^otter^> not sure how we are gonna work this Work what? <^otter^> you'll know what I mean when you see em <^otter^> the dinner We'll work something out. <^otter^> they have upped their meeting rooms to a 40 person minimum <^otter^> yeah Eeek! I don't think we can get 40 of us. <^otter^> that would run like almost $1000 *** BabyRain (babyrain@stjhts01c02.nbnet.nb.ca) has joined #totgm <^otter^> just to commit to the deal Hi ya Karen. Hi. *** GMonkey sets mode: +o BabyRain <^otter^> I think we would have trouble with 40 myself Couldn't get on Phoenix. Could you? <^otter^> hey Karen Hi, Gayle! I got on Phoenix. Doesn't seem to be much lag though. <^otter^> Hey karen -> [BabyRain] PING <^otter^> BRB need coffee Okay. Pat, you were panicking, weren't you? :) * BabyRain is very proud of her 12-minute junk food jaunt Panicking about what? <^otter^> back What kinda junk food did you get, BR? <^otter^> at any rate the problem will seem to be that we have to pay that up front as well, so I just don't know what to think Doritos, a Mr. Big bar, DP, Oreos, and Snackwells. <^otter^> maybe our way out will be strictly to make a normal reservation and just do dinner instead of the room etc I think we should look into a holding the dinner at a hotel in the area. What are we talking about? The Gathering. <^otter^> that may be a real good idea Patricia <^otter^> prolly get a better rate It will cost us $1000 up front to book a room at the 94th Squadron. What did I miss? <^otter^> the squadron is such a cool place though, it's kind of a shame And we would have to get at least 40 people for that. No squadron??!! <^otter^> at any rate you will have the menus in a couple days and maybe post em and we can go from there How's the hotel search going away? We'll need places to stay. <^otter^> I haven't done much on that but I can get right on it <^otter^> there are tons of reasonable hotels in that area Okey dokey. And Leanne may be able to help too. She should be here today. I hope. <^otter^> Leanne should call me and then we could split up these duties ya know? <^otter^> in all actuality however I think I know more about the area up there than Leanne does She keeps saying she's going to, but then something always comes up. I know what that's like. <^otter^> I lived up there for 10 years <^otter^> busy busy Leanne <^otter^> she's just scared I;ll get my hands on her Gold Monkey annual and she'll never get it back <^otter^> hahahaha <^otter^> there is another option at the Squadron What's that? <^otter^> if we did it as a luncheon it's about half the price But would we still need 40 people? <^otter^> same food, half the price <^otter^> hmmm prolly so <^otter^> I think the most we are gonna be able to definately count on is like 30 <^otter^> 20/30 <^otter^> with spouses etc <^otter^> unless a whole bunch of the Hollywood types decide to come I think we should start exploring other options. <^otter^> I think so too <^otter^> I'll go back to the drawing board and see what I can come up with Thanks. What about that Monkey bar lookalike place? <^otter^> it is really too bad there isn't an Elephant Bar in the area <^otter^> it's way cheaper than 94th We should probably start thinking of a hotel where we can have a dinner and a room to show videos. <^otter^> and perfect atmosphere <^otter^> yeah we can decorate the room cute <^otter^> specially is I can manage to get the Monkey Besides, they could give us a discount if we all stay there. <^otter^> I have an Elephant Bar in San Diego, but that wouldn't be real conduscive to SC and Jeff et al coming Get the monkey? If they come. :( <^otter^> I am working on getting the Monkey :) <^otter^> Tom wants to come Karen wants the monkey!!! <^otter^> so does Jeff Poor Jeff has been MIA for 2 months. :( At least Tom will probably show up, if only to meet his sultry Canadian. :) I'm really worried. I don't know why. It's not as if the man has to report to us his every move. It's just ... * ^otter^ wants the Monkey as well Who's a sultry Canadian? ^otter^ can't have the monkey. It's mine. :) I personally don't know any. :) <^otter^> I sent him a letter about the monkey <^otter^> hopefully I'll hear back from him shortly Don't make me slap you, Monkey Woman. :) I'd like to see you try it, BabyRain. :P <^otter^> hehehe if we get the Monkey away from Don B what do you want to bet it mysteriously dissapears? We'll buy him a new coat hanger. -> [BabyRain] PING <^otter^> if none of the stars are gonna come, how would you guys feel about having it in San Diego? Where is the Universal theme park? <^otter^> Universal Studios is in LA Yes, we have to visit the Gold Monkey set! <^otter^> near the Valley Or at least see it from the tram. <^otter^> I asked Tom about that, the set is out in the agoura hills <^otter^> North of the Valley I wonder if it's still on the tour? <^otter^> Universal Studios is in LA tour, park etc <^otter^> at least that is my understanding I've heard from plenty of people who said it was on the tour. <^otter^> really? I've even got pictures on the pics page. <^otter^> maybe I have my facts wrong <^otter^> very possible It's right near the Red Sea. <^otter^> that's right, Red Sea is like the backside of Bora Gora <^otter^> the tour is expensive <^otter^> but it is pretty cool But we're worth it. :) Maybe we can get a group discount. <^otter^> hahaha dat's a fact <^otter^> bring on de plastic <^otter^> there's a great idea, a group discount * GMonkey is always looking for a bargain. <^otter^> I can find out about that too Great, thanks. <^otter^> at the 94th they also do a thing called a picnic... <^otter^> you'll see all this when ya get the menus Pat <^otter^> the picnic is outside on the deck, and it's like $10 a person Okay, Otter. <^otter^> sort of a BBQ buffet type deal That sounds like fun. <^otter^> just some options <^otter^> I kinda liked that idea too <^otter^> it was alot less money and I have seen the deck there and it's real cool <^otter^> and that time of year the Valley is really warm so no chance of getting cold Can't wait to get there. <^otter^> so maybe we could do the tour and meet late afternoon for the picnic <^otter^> just a though <^otter^> thought even <^otter^> man, these webbed fingers are the pitts :) <^otter^> I am glad it's a ways away gives us plenty of time to explore different options But, then what will we do Saturday evening? Karaoke. :) I thought we were doing that Sunday. <^otter^> hehehe we could go to my aunts, ROFL <^otter^> if there is only like 20 of us we could have a pool party at my aunts <^otter^> hahahaha <^otter^> Karaoke to 30's music, now that could be a blast * ^otter^ sings "am I blue....." Well, we'll work on the itinerary later. I get the blues when it raaaaaaains .... <^otter^> yeah Remember, if you keep singing, LaLa won't come chat with us. <^otter^> main thing is figuring out where the heck we are gonna eat that is workable financially Money! Money! Money! <^otter^> 94th would be great if it didn't have that darn 40 person minimum <^otter^> I am gonna call the Elephant Bar locally today and see if there is one near the SF valley <^otter^> if there is one close that might be an option <^otter^> the Valley is a really BIG place <^otter^> remember the show "The Big Valley?" <^otter^> that's the same Valley, hahahaha We still have time to look around a bit. <^otter^> yeah <^otter^> I am really glad we started hunting this stuff early Planning is everything. <^otter^> I gotta change my nick I am getting hunted down in messages *** ^otter^ is now known as ^otter <^otter> hehe a one eared otter <^otter> sorta like a one eyed-dog <^otter> hahahahahahaha So, we'll table discussions on the Gathering for a while. Maybe we'll talk about it some more when more people show up today. IF more people show up today. <^otter> OK I'll do some more research and see if I can come up with some new and improved options for us There's an idea. * BabyRain has faith that at least one other person will come. So what's the next topic of discussion? <^otter> where the heck is Leanne? BR, any ideas? <^otter> anybody got her phone #? I dunno where she is. Nope. I'll email her. brb <^otter> drat So, Gayle, what are your favourite and least favourite episodes? <^otter> well lemmesee <^otter> sultan of swat is definately my LEAST favorite <^otter> I kinda like High Stakes Lady almost the best <^otter> dunno why zactly but it was intriguing But not quite the best? I haven't seen them all, so I can't really judge yet. And Jake looked scrumptious in that tux. :) <^otter> I think if push comes to shove I like The Late Sarah White best of all <^otter> boy did he ever <^otter> whadda babe <^otter> Last Chance Louie is a really great episode too <^otter> me has now seen em all thanks to Patricia <^otter> and is going on second run through <^otter> what an addict <^otter> black pearl is great too <^otter> ape boy coulda been neat but it was kinda lame <^otter> am I lagged? No. <^otter> ok All right, let's have a fresh topic of discussion. <^otter> I liked trunk from the past but it was just soooo far-fetched If I can think of one. :) <^otter> hahah ok What? <^otter> what shall that be Oh MonkeyMadam I'm thinking. I'm thinking. * GMonkey is still thinking. * GMonkey is thinking that she needs more caffeine <^otter> hahaha <^otter> yeah, I was thinking you needed more too, Patricia <^otter> hehehehe Oh, Gayle, you never got into the big debate. <^otter> what big debate? Do you think the show would have been ruined if Jake and Sarah ever got together. Tom sure seemed to think so. <^otter> I am with Tom on that one Why? <^otter> I think the sexual tension of them sort of moving towards that but not having it happen was one of the things that created real interest in the show <^otter> also it kept Jake free for little flings and stuff Now, I never saw any "sexual tension". <^otter> which some of the scripts demanded I waffle on this subject. As a woman who identified with Sarah, I wanted them to get together. As a viewer (and a writer) I think it would've been series suicide. <^otter> I gotta agree with ya karen But why couldn't they just fall in love? <^otter> I liked the fact that we knew there was an attraction but it was always a future possibility Because that eliminates the question of "will they?" <^otter> if they had gotten together it would have spoiled some of Jake's mystique IMHO <^otter> zactly Karen But, you could move on to the question of "will it work?" <^otter> the "will they" kept us hoping and hanging I mean, the coming war, Jake's "fiancee"... <^otter> I think it would have been series suicide Could have had great tragic love story possibilities. <^otter> Jake had to be somewhat mysterious, a bit of a rogue <^otter> but it wasn't a tragic love story, it was action/adventure Yes, but the most important aspect of the show were the relationships between the characters. Just like we had to keep wondering if Jake would ever get Corky sober. <^otter> I mean can ya see it, Mr. and Mrs. Cutter, sunday afternoon puttering on the goose, settled down, dinner with friends, it just woulda lost something and the possibilities of relationships between the characters Oh, I didn't say get 'em married. <^otter> it was the possibilities that kept it sooo interesting But you can only drag out the "will they" storyline for so long. <^otter> it also showed something positive in male/female relationship in that Jake and Sarah were friends But Jake and Sarah were always more than friends. <^otter> I mean their friendship was real, not muddled down in hot-n-heavy If they had been introduced as just friends, then it really wouldn't matter. But they were friends, too. It wasn't just some "I hate this man, I must sleep with him" kind of thing. <^otter> yes that's the tension I speak of Pat, that held our interest <^otter> zactly karen But I never saw "tension". I saw genuine affection and concern. And a genuine attraction, but attraction doesn't necessarily mean tension. <^otter> the tension was subtle, it was what karen is saying, WE felt the tension, wanting them to get together, wondering if they would It would be tension if they both actively fought it. It didn't look like that they were fighting it too hard. <^otter> for me, it really worked it was one of the brilliant strategies of the writers I think Question: in your opinion, in the pilot, why was Sarah knocking on Jake's door? What, if anything, was she expecting? <^otter> she was gonna make a pass at him <^otter> hehehe I don't think so. <^otter> the pilot set up the whole future of their interaction I don't know. I think she definitely wanted to get closer too him, but just how close is subject to speculation. I don't think she wanted to sleep with him. <^otter> if she wasn't at least hopeful in the pilot, why was she so bugged that the other woman was in there? Well, maybe she *wanted* to, but wouldn't have. I think she just wanted to be near him, talk to him, et cetera, and was jealous that someone else was. <^otter> no not sleep with him, but she had a crush and it showed, she was at the very least moving towards romance I think she was hoping there was no one else, and she was disappointed/jealous. <^otter> karen, zactly She was scoping. :) <^otter> and I think that scene planted the notion that he was a bit of a rogue and she kept that in mind in future episodes And you could tell that Jake would have let her in if Bobbie hadn't been there. <^otter> but she still wanted him, throughout the series <^otter> I could relate to that <^otter> hahahahaha Why did Jake take off in front of Bobbie if he was trying to get rid of her? <^otter> yeah you could tell that for sure <^otter> in a way that scene set up a classic "women are from venus, men are from mars" sort of communication etc Well, he wanted to change his shirt. He was kinda nasty in the way he got rid of Bobbie. <^otter> hehehe But he probably felt she deserved it for lying to him. Tease her, then dump her. Well, not nasty enough to deserve to be slapped. Remember, she'd just gotten him beat up. <^otter> part of the reason they never got together was little bits of miscommunication <^otter> hey Bobbie deserved it <^otter> :) What would you have suggested he have done to Bobbie, BR? The same thing, with less snark in his tone. <^otter> I agree Karen snark, snark. * GMonkey likes saying snark <^otter> course it might of been interesting if he had dragged her downstairs to her husband Jake wouldn't do that. He'd let her drag herself back. <^otter> yeah that's true <^otter> Jake had a heart of gold Besides, he wasn't gonna go near the guy again! <^otter> that is part of what made the character so very endearing <^otter> he had "feminine" qualities before it was trendy That and the furry chest. (I had to say it. Forgive me?) :) <^otter> yeah he has a great chest, like my husband You forgot to capitalize it, BR. <^otter> hehehe Furry Chest!!!! * ^otter has a really adorable husband Stop rubbing it in, otter. :) <^otter> great to look at anyway, kinda of a PITA in actuality though PITA??? <^otter> Pain in the ass <^otter> :) Ah, I thought you were refering to bread. :) <^otter> hahaha <^otter> my husband is a real left brainer, drives me nuts in many ways, but he is great looking, definately the SC type But didn't you think that Jack sure didn't approve of Jake's free-wheeling lifesyle and that he wanted him to settle down? <^otter> right down to the dimples and infamous furry chest <^otter> hahahaha <^otter> boy that's readin' alot into Jack! <^otter> hahahahaha You keep forgetting to capitalize it! Furry Chest!! :) No. As long as Jake was in the air, there was a chance they'd find the eye. <^otter> FURRY CHEST Jack was a regular character just like everyone else. ***!!! FURRY CHEST!!!*** <^otter> yeah Jack's concern was the eye, that is for sure I was talking about women, not flying. I think Jack would be jealous. Jealous? Really? <^otter> I hate to run gang but my resident FURRY CHEST needs to use the computer for some work related stuff Jack doesn't seem like the jealous type. Thanks for stopping by, Gayle. Always fun to have fresh blood. <^otter> if you are still on in about an hour I'll check back in! See ya, Gayle! :) We should be here. <^otter> hasta la pasta and all that for now <^otter> ok I'll check back in in a bit *** ^otter has quit IRC (Leaving) Okay, back to Jack. Jack could hold a grudge, and I think if he suddenly took a drop in status in Jake's life, it would bug him. What do you think? But he wouldn't take a drop in status if he found Jake the right girl. And, after all, it was Jack who found Sarah. True. I felt bad for Sam. Jack wasn't a young pup anymore and he probably knew that he wouldn't be around that much longer to take care of Jake. Yeah, poor Sam. That's true. Jack would have to find someone to take care of Jake after he was gone. And Jack really liked Sarah. At the risk of incurring the wrath of Lesley, I have to say this: I think Corky should have had a relationship. Definitely! All they ever gave him was a fat wife and a drag queen. :) And the mud slut. Oh yes. The mud slut. :) And Louie should have gotten more female action too. Should we write that as (c) Mud Slut. It is, after all, Lesley's term. LOL I always had the feeling that Louie had lots of action going on behind the scenes. With whom? The only woman we ever saw him with was that English woman at the beginning of Shanghaied. I know he was discrete, but really! :) But the English woman sort of made me think that he was *always* doing that, and that Sarah had just caught him at a bad time. :) But we never got to see him do more of that. That would have been fun. I'd prefer to see Jake run off with a Canadian A sultry Canadian? :( I meant :) A sultry Canadian. :) %^&_$_ keyboard! Suuuuure, you did. :) Freudian slip. :) And you wear it well. :) A sultry 12-year-old Canadian? Nah. Twenty-six. :) What will Doug, the FC, say? :) I was a single twenty-six for two months and thirteen days. :) Engaged, mind you, but single. :) So Jake would only run away with you for a short time. :) Well, didn't he always wind up giving up the girl? :) He was such a noble guy. :) Then he would always go back to Sarah. Da Weasel!!! :) I love that speech in the pilot when he says that he's not a good fighter, especially when he doesn't know what he's fighting for So he's a rogue with scruples. My immediate reaction was, "Come here, fly-boy, and I'll show you." :) * BabyRain raises one eyebrow I think I shall hereby dub thee, Snow Slut. :) We don't have any snow. Don't you mean (c) Snow Slut? It's Canada!!! You gotta have snow!!! I don't feel I have the right to copyright. :) You need the monkey in order to dub me. And no. We have no snow. None. Nada. Zip. And a mere minimum of ice. I could have run to the store and back without fear of slipping, if I had time. Hmmm...I'm getting hungry. Wanna take 10 so I can get a bit o' lunch? Besides, we gotta save the good stuff for when LaLa arrives. -> [BabyRain] PING if I had time. Okey dokey. brb Once upon a time ... ... not long ago ... and not far away ... ...there was a Monkey Woman who left a madwoman ... in control. (heheheh) I think we should save the monkey. I think we should repaint the Goose red and white. I think we should outlaw winter. And I think that more people should come to these chats. This is the world according to Karen. Hmmmm ... What else? I think Koji had the right idea. Take away Jake's clothes and put him in a hot tub. :) Or, better yet, put hin in *one's own* hot tub. :) * BabyRain is nostalgic for the good ol' Boragoran days. Where is LaLa? Where is Leanne? Where is Tom? And *where* is Jeff? I bet Patricia's getting some Diet Pepsi. Anything else? I bet as soon as I run to get some more, she'll come back. :) Good timing. :) Run and get some. No, nothing else. I'm DPless. :( brb This is the world according to Monkey Woman. I think Universal should release all the episodes on home video. I think some cable channel should rerun the show. I think Karen's a very nice person, but a bit odd. :) I think the weenies at ABC should have renewed the show for a second season. I think it's too darn cold outside. BRRRRRR! Odd? Moi? Er...uh...er :) :) I totally agree with you. It's part of my charm. Uh, yeah, charm, that's it. :) Just wait til you try dulse! :) * GMonkey trembles with trepidation What did the description of dulse say? Did it tell you what it was? Or is it just that GMonkey's cold? :) Hold on, let me get the book. In the ad for Saint John and the Old City Market, it says... * BabyRain explains to the #totgm viewers (ie log readers) that Monkey Woman is coming to visit her. Monkey Woman is looking for the tourism info. No market expedition is complete without a taste of dulse. (cont) It's the purple "stuff" piled in bins next to several of the stalls or stuffed into brown paper bags on shop counters. (cont) The New Brunswick delicacy is, in fact, seaweed gathered from the rocks along the Bay of Fundy and dried in the sunshine. (cont) [MW comment: YUCK!] It's good! It's a snack food, a seasoning for soup and salad, and, according to some, works better than vitamins at keeping you healthy. It's good for you! So what! Me like unhealthy food. * GMonkey remembers the chocolate covered marshmallow cookies downstairs and starts to drool I didn't realize just how healthy it was til I started working for tourism. I've been eating it since I was two. :) * BabyRain is eating Oreos. This explains a lot!! :) You just have to watch out for the shells. Egad! Crunchy seaweed!! :) Well, it's crunchy anyway. You eat it when it's dry. And it gets even crunchier when you cook it. * GMonkey is getting a bit queasy I think you'll like it. The people I cooked it on the wood stove for liked it. I'm very finicky about what I eat. But I'll give it a try. Okay. I'll have the DP ready. :) Good! Here comes Leanne Yippee! *** Volterra (danswler@sdts3-67.znet.com) has joined #totgm I'm going to switch servers, okay? *** BabyRain has quit IRC (Going to get more Diet Pepsi!!!) All right. don't be long. Hi, Leanne. lo hi -- which server should I be on? *** GMonkey sets mode: +o Volterra Well, I'm on Phoenix, but there doesn't seem to be much lag today. *** BabyRain (babyrain@stjhts01c02.nbnet.nb.ca) has joined #TOTGM HI BR! No luck. Still full. :( Hi! *** Volterra sets mode: +o BabyRain Hmmm...I don't know if I should ops ya. Thanks! Dang! :-P BR: primenet won't let you on? Nope. That's what you get for trying to make me eat purple seaweed. :) -> [BabyRain] PING -> [Volterra] PING Dang! With bits of green. 1 sec ping, BR. :) Goody! Oh great! Paisley seaweed!!! :) 7Yay! Leanne, have you ever had dulse? Hello? dulse? Yeah. It's an edible seaweed. sorry, I was showing Dan the silly email I got from that very stupid b*tch no, never. Well, unless it was plane food on Japan Air and I didn't know it. * BabyRain sighs. don't worry guys, I'll reply to it *after* our chat. Good girl. :) Where is MonkeyWoman? Let's face it, BR. Most people don't eat stuff that grows in the ocean. :) Ever heard of fish? :) and squid and shrimp You know what I mean. Grow out of the ocean. clams? *** BabyRain is now known as Koji * Volterra chuckles Oh oh! Why the sudden name change? Don't take it personally. That twit just came online. It was an evasive action. Ah. *** Koji is now known as BabyKoji * Volterra suddenly realises that if she loses a bit of weight (we won't say how much) she can fit into the Chinese gown she fitted into during University and kinda come as Koji I thought you were just trying to lure Jake into your hot tub. :) There. That should help anyone confused as to who I am. mind you, I won't be eating raw food :) Koji in diapers is hard to imagine :) I am anxious to show Jake some hospitality ... :) Hey, what do you think the characters were like as kids? I bet Jack was a puppy. I bet Corky had one of those radio crystal sets Don't make me slap you, BK. :) if they wer invented by then -- I think they were a Depression invention We sell those radio crystal sets. :) I bet Sarah was a whiny kid. :) BK? I sound like Burger King. :) and Jake? lived with his mother the actress, right? Just like Mame! "But DAAAAAAAAD, whyyyyyy?" Jake was busy being chased by giirls. Yeah! I bet he was a little pre-teen heartbreaker. :) Louie was probably already a thief like Gavroche He was with me. :) Probably. Willie was busy *chasing* the girls. :) Koji probably had two or three pet cobras. through the tulips, yah? Yah. and Koji teased her little sister with them No wonder she grew up to be so bitter. well, it had to be *something* although they're only half-relations aren't they? Maybe she had a fiance who looked just like Jake? yup I was just picturing Koji and her family on a talk show. so maybe they didn't get to know each other until they were teens and Koji already held the ropes of Daddy's (or Mommy's) empire Topic: I want to kill my half-sister so I can take over her island. * Volterra pictures Koji like a more ruthless Modesty Blaise ? you've never read the comic "Modesty Blaise"? No. :( she was the same genetic mix as Koji, brought up a thief, had a huge criminal empire ... and then something happend and she decided to use her underworld connections to do good. with her big blond sidekick Willie :) She met MacGyver? I think it was some English rich guy Speaking of our Willie, do you think they named him that on purpose? undoubtedly :) It is what he's most remembered for. "blessinks" Any sign of LaLa yet, BK? :) Nope. :( fort he basement, doesn't she dang She said 10 her time. I hope she's able to get on today. Now, try it in English, Leanne. :) She said the place opeend at 10: she has to get into the building and get to the basement and hope that the guard has opened it already I don't know what I did the first time besides lose h alf a sentence *** KidLaLa (Pohl@140.211.103.71) has joined #TOTGM YIPPEE!!! speak of the devil! LAlLA! And there she is. I'm here11 We was just talking 'bout you! *** GMonkey sets mode: +o KidLaLa *** Volterra sets mode: +o KidLaLa Sorry for the delay. Thanks for the power! oooh, you're a faster draw than me GM We was worried. Fastest OPs giver in the East. :) The burglar alarm was misbehaving and delayed entrance to the building. I was busy. :) You broken in?! broke We know your just power hungry, little Koji. :) so, are we expecting anyone else? Gayle was here earlier and may return. (sniff) No. (sniff) to the building. I told my friend Michelle, but she's on AOL and may have a *little* trouble getting on line LITTLE??!! HA!! What's wrong with AOL? AOL got blasted in our paper yesterday. Yes, I know that was a definite understatement, GM I give up trying to connect with AOL on weekends and evenings. * BabyKoji wonders if Tom will be able to get past the AOL gremlin if he wants to chat today It's not the AOL gremlin. It's the lack of AOL phone lines. BabyRain has a new persona I see. Every modem you try to dial into gets a busy signal. Yes. I'm avoiding my pal 'dude. The student worker here remembers TOTGM and no surprise, she had a big crush on you know who. :) Louie? On Corky? :) ummmm .... who? Gushie? Corky? jinx Willie's willie? You guys are a riot. I said it way before you, Koji! that guy third from the end of the bar in episode 12? * BabyKoji slaps GMonkey around a bit with a large trout I would have used a cobra, but I can't find that command Was the trout seasoned with dulse? :) No, silly. Trout isn't seafood. :) LaLa, how old is the student worker? Poor LaLa. :) You can get seatrout, can't you? Don't you guys want to talk the monkey!!? She's 22. LaLa who had to tell the whole world about my smurfphilia. BK, even the space aliens know. Or is that simply smuphilia? Loving smus? What's a smu? :) Oh, stop picking on me. Where's Bill when I need him? Yeah, where is Beeeel? Don't go crying for Bill, O Damsel in Distress! A smu is someone who goes to St. Mary's University in Halifax. Bill won't be here. He doesn't work on Saturdays. LaLa: we were talking about what the cast would have been like when they were little. Don't cry for me, Baby Koji / The truth is, I have no access ... Adorable!! All of them. We know how cute little Roddy was. We meant the characters. Same difference. Not just looks-wise, but personality-wise. Like Willie would have been chasing all the school girls around. Jake would have been chased by all the school girls. wanting to "bless" them You guys know your characters. What would Corky have been like? Hubby Dan says Corky was a drunk ten year old Tell us, O Corky expert. The sweetest little kid that ever lived. Nope. 'cause he's had enough practice Leanne, hit Hubby Dan for us, will ya? Dan is bad.!! Corky only started drinking after the accident. I thought his drinking caused the accident? And the accident was even his fault! NO!!! Wasn't Corky picked daisies for the teacher and couldn't understand why the others kids called him names for it.. Read the bible more carefully. Thanks BK Corky babysat his little sister whenever he was asked. * Volterra is trying to educate Hubby Dan but thinks they'll just go read the Bible together later. And he was always building stuff in the backyard. Jake was probably a hooligan. Corky made a lot of paper airplanes and could make them fly no matter what. LaLa!!! Have I asked everyone here whether they've seen "Shine"? I agree, LaLa And fixed all the neighborhood kids' bikes and wagons and stuff. Yes and no. Heard it's really good. He had to act tough in New York (where his mother the actress slowly became more and more out of work) because he didn't want to be seen as a Mmmy's boy. He read a lot and defended little girls who were being picked on GM, have I got a website for you!! All you girls. Probably got in a lot of fights though. ? What is it? Not the Hairy Chest Page? It is ... the music's marvelous -- and I met the pianist in *real life* (although I barely remember it) Studmuffins in Science. Brains AND looks. Oooooh! oh! The Studmuffin Science calendar -- you know, you can order that? I heard about that calendar, but didn't know it was now a website. www.cnet.com/Content/Reviews/Bestofweb/?dd * Volterra nods * BabyKoji wonders if there are any geologists to shake her Richter scale. brb Haven't checked it out yet but will. Isn't one furry-chested science guy enough for you, Karen?!! Lucky us. Hubby Dan was considered to be too good looking for the calendar *grin* Actually, one of them women at Dan's work got the calendar -- some of the pics are pretty risque apparently So did little Sarah spy on her friends and neighbors? Doug hates having his picture taken No, she just whined a lot. :) BK, we're offering a class for kids called Mad Scientists in Motion! Really? Lucky Volterra! Maybe Doug can be a guest instructor. :) Not first thing in the morning. :) He's definitely not in motion then. :) Leanne, oooooooooohh! Sorry to hear that, BK. :) So, do you think our Goose is going to be in that movie Gneech told us about? Those scientists. I doubt it. :( -> [KidLaLa] PING A whiney little Sarah, eh. Did she get kicked out of the kids' choir? * Volterra hasn't read the webpage for acoupla days ... do we have a new instalment of fic yet? Not from me. :( I do believe LaLa is lagging. LaLa: no, her father was paying for the choir -- she actually got to do solos * GMonkey shudders at that thought the kids' choir? * BabyKoji winces -> [KidLaLa] PING She actually had a beautiful soprano voice as a child but one day she got laryngitus, tried to sing and her voice has never been the same since ... but whenever she sings, she can still hear in her head how her voice *should* sound There, isn't that tragic? Whatever makes you happy, Volterra. :) That's what happened to me a few months ago. MonkeyWoman, do you still have the "It's a Small World" wav file? :) :P~ It's at work. And I think we've lost LaLa. :( LaLa! Oh, LaLa!! I'm going to make some toast (hey, I've only been up for an hou) brb file? :) I did, LaLa, twice. But I'm not getting a reply. -> [KidLaLa] PING Can't get a dcc either I think it's terminal. :( No pun intended? * Volterra is waiting for the toast to go flying No. Didn't even think of it. I'm too worried about LaLa. Leggo my Eggo. Hello? Anybody there? Can she check email, Pat? Try reconnecting, LaLa! * KidLaLa realizes they've all gone to check out the smart studmuffins. I dunno. But I'll try. brb *** KidLaLa has quit IRC (Leaving) *** KidLaLa (Pohl@140.211.103.71) has joined #TOTGM *** BabyKoji sets mode: +o KidLaLa Hi again. :) Hi, LaLa. * Volterra is back still lagged You'll be getting an email from me telling you your IRC connection is bad. Guess it still is. -> [KidLaLa] PING * BabyKoji is playing with her Doodle-Top *** KidLaLa has quit IRC (Leaving) Oh, thanks for the personalized doodle-top paper, BK. I hope that isn't another name for Doug. Actually I don't mind if it is. No, doug isn't my Doodle-Top. :) what is it? No problem, Monkey Woman. It's a top that has a marker in it. When you spin it, it draws spirals. Ultra-cool. cool :) Poor LaLa. A moment of silence, please. ... ... ... Okay, that's enough. should've asked for an ellipsis of silence, GM Is that like a misfit of science? ummm.... Eeek!!! Don't you dare to mention that show in the Gold Monkey room! Why? Cause GM was much cooler!!! what show? Of course it was. Besides, MCA released at least one of the MoS episodes on home video! I never said it wasn't. Maybe more! MCA weenies. * Volterra has never heard of this show WEENIES! Consider yourself lucky, Volterra. * Volterra considers it :) I think it lasted for what, three months? About that long. Seemed a hell of a lot longer. (shudder) * BabyKoji hands out the marsh, allows Mmmmmmm, thanks. * BabyKoji hands out the marsh, allows bull-frog chasing yummy :) * GMonkey remembers the hot cocoa with marshmallows she bought today *** KidLaLa (Pohl@140.211.103.71) has joined #TOTGM ugh, that yummy was poorly timed LaLA!!!!!! One more time! *** BabyKoji sets mode: +o KidLaLa I'm back. Can you read us now, LaLa. 5 seconds. :) yay! Not bad. WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! Goofy technology. We were worried about you. Thanks amigos. Had to console myself while gone with nutty fudge cookies. I bet LaLa remembers Misfits of Science. Yummy. LaLa wishes she didn't. :) How dare those MCA weenies release that show on home video, but no TOTGM!!! Sic 'em, MW!! WE WANT VIDEO! WE WANT VIDEO! We simply have to elevate TOTGM to the status of cult classic, that's all. We already have!! :) It already is! We might even get a feature film made tthat way. * Volterra does the ooga booga chant in counterpoint Just to us, though. Not in TV GUIDE. Who cares about TV Guide?! maybe someone ought to write to TV Guide and point us out? It's owned by Rupert Murdoch, for Pete's sake! even if they are Rupert Murdoch-sucking scum can I say that in the log? who? MW is not RM's biggest fan. :) Nope! WHO?! BK, duh! Did TV Guide really need coupons and a horoscope?! * KidLaLa slaps BabyKoji around a bit with a large trout * BabyKoji slaps KidLaLa around a bit with a large trout He's the owner of all those cheesy tabloid newspapers and FOX. Just to wake you up, dear. they wrote an Aussie mini-series based on him Oh. A definite philistine. Nothing like the smell of fresh fish in your face to wake you up. Worse than Brain Baloney, then? Oh yes! Much worse! Volterra, what's your opinion of those new Foster's commercials? Ted Turner compared him to Hitler! called "The Paper" which was pretty good. Oliver Tobias was in it -- did you guys ever see "Arthur: King of the Britons"? Nope, never did, Volterra. I think they're insulting to Aussies. LaLa: the ones with the translation printed on the screen? Yep. I like the crybaby one. :) I'm going: "I can understand them perfectly!" and Dan said: "So can I" personally I think the Bud one at the trainstation is pretty funny You're not offended by them? * BabyKoji is twiddling her thumbs. BK, don't do that. Dangerous. I've only seen one Fosters one -- they're stupid. Besides, no one in Australia drinks Fosters anyway I knew that, but can't remember the name of the more popular beer. I tell that to anyone who asks LaLa: anything that's not Fosters pretty much :) MW, did you het the Moosehead brochure? Yes, I did. Were you planning on taking me on the tour? * GMonkey doesn't like beer. Volterra, thanks. :) * Volterra is not a beer drinker either. * KidLaLa doesn't like anything alcoholic. Not really. Tours don't start til June. Corky will be ashamed of us!! The guys in my family drink "Ice" LaBatt Ice? which is a "lite" beer MW, does the dadster drink beer? Nope. Nobody in my immediate family drinks. Good for the Anninos. Annini. :) Well, my brother Doug does occasionally drink beer, but not often. Oops, sorry. We're all part of the coffee generation. :) Hubby Dan has beer in the fridge but he hardly ever drinks it -- I think he's had one botle since I got here. Mmmmmm...love our java. :) Eeew, coffee. * Volterra is a cappuchino type :) Uh, guys? Can we talk monkey now? Just tried Western Family diet cola, since there was no Tab to be had and it was better than DP. BELIEVE IT OR NOT. Well, let's see. Jake and Corky were both beer drinkers. Yes, talk the monkey. Willie loved Schnapps. Sarah too. Louie brandy and wine. Koji liked drinking poison. Lucien drank lava ... It seems to me Gushie was a beer drinker too. BK, nice Lucien reference. :P Louie liked rum too -- remember that time he ordered that Victorian rum in that nun ep But it tasted like gasoline. But that was to sell, eh? I think Lucien should come back .... I don't believe he died at all Gm: but he didn't know that until he tried it. I think they all should come back!!! YES! Well, what did you expect 180 proof rum to taste like? :) * Volterra thinks Louie is a conisseur(sp?) of all fine wines and spirits Somebody fork out $15 million for a movie. :) We'll need more than that. * KidLaLa thinks Volterra is right on. Nope. connoisseur I wanna make a blockbuster! LaLa: what am I right on about? thanks BK :) Louie being what you said. GM: the epic scale of Indy? GM, okay, $50 million. LaLa; Oh, ok :) All right. $50 mil sounds reasonable. get Speilberg to direct with Harvey doing lots of character scenes (Spielberg can do the action stuff) I need a nap. NO Speilberg, please!! Tom to write the script Downtime for BabyKoji. :) James Cameron for the action stuff. No naps, BK. who is James Cameron? Directed Aliens, Terminator 2, the Abyss. Pays more attention to realism than SS. never seen any of those. but we can hire him, I'm sure :) Oooh, girl, are you missing out!! * Volterra trusts LaLa. Edge of your seat type movies all the way. not really: I don't like those kind of films I usually don't either, but JC makes it happen. I fell asleep watching Abyss "True Lies" and "Tango and Cash" is about as close as I like to get to them. * KidLaLa slaps BabyKoji around a bit with a large trout oh and "Big Trouble in Little China" Big Trouble is a GREAT movie! Sarah does't have green eyes, does she? * BabyKoji tries to wake up but is just too sleepy Where'd MW go? I'm here. BK, I came in just for you!! Just lettin' you gals talk. Get Pepsi to lick your face. Run outside with no clothes on. :) It's not working. Either thing. :) Like you did either one! :) You didn't stay out long enough. :) BK: I don't believe you tried te last one! :) You big fibber. Well, I ran outside my room. Does that count? * Volterra shakes her head What if Tom shows up and won't talk to anyone but the sultry Canadian? Now I don't know whether to believe the smurf story. She probably made it all up. :) Outside where the cold air will do you good. I wish I'd made up the smurf story. :) I don't think Tom is going to show up. Or you could open up all the windows in the house. Open your window wide!! Feel the artic blast of air. he's probably out with his horses, it's a nice day That's arctic. anyone heard from Jeff? No. No. Jeff is still incommunicado. I wish I was out playing with horsies. * BabyKoji grabs her pop in order to guzzle more caffeine MW, any word from Les? Or Caitlin? No and no. :( or the Smurf himself? Everybody wearing their shirts? Too cold. no -- I have to wash it still .... Under a sweater MW. Brrrr... I haven't talked to Papa Smurf in a couple of weeks. * KidLaLa heaves a large, deep sigh. * Volterra is going to Disneyland on Friday! Lucky Volterra!! * BabyKoji is envious Hey, he's only Papa Smurf when he's wearing that beard! Or when he's blue. :) my first time ever No, then he's Santa Smurf. :) Ride the Haunted Mansion for me please. "Am I blue ... am I blue? Ain't these tears in my eyes telling you .." Volterra, you ever been to New Zealand? LaLa: no My brother's there playing for a whole month. The lucky dog. * Volterra looked up a whole bunch of pre -1938 songs last night it's a pretty neat place: snow and geysers and what have you What are some of them, Leanne? Somebody shake BK to wake up. Singin' in the Rain AROOROOROO! -- Pepsi (means "just did") That's My Desire My fave. Because And where did you look them up? I have a bunch of old sheet music. and Jazz music Do you have.....THE FISHIES SONG? We need to get the words straight!! Patricia, you're being quiet again. I can look it up in my school song books PLEASE DO. Well, I don't have anything to say. You're our leader!! I have an 1895 song called "Dream Voices" a little *too* early :) O Speak Monkey Woman! Tease BK about the smurf and we'll all giggle. I'm tired of teasing BK about that damn smurf. "Because My Baby Don't Mean 'Maybe' Now" Or BK can tease MW and we can listen to her retorts. Are we feeling a little cranky today? :) Hey, I've been chatting for 3 hours. * Volterra gives MW some chocolate to make her feel better me ttoo American chocolate? :) Your point being.... :) * BabyKoji slaps KidLaLa around a bit with a large trout I'm tired. That's my point. :) I want a sheep. I hear they make nice pillows hmm ... perhaps we should close up then? Um...why do you want a sheep, BK? There's a sign of the times. In 1938 Corky craved American chocolate. Today it would be Swiss. pillow No, I said I'd leave the chat room open until 3 ET. LaLa: nope: Aussie Cadbury's chocolate is to die for GM: so what time is it BabyKoji wants to sleep with a sheep!!!! OH YEAAAAAAAH True, me love Cadbury's fruit and nut bars. * BabyKoji slaps GMonkey around a bit with a large trout * BabyKoji slaps GMonkey around a bit with a large trout First the smurf. Now a live farm animal!!!! * BabyKoji slaps GMonkey around a bit with a large trout * BabyKoji slaps GMonkey around a bit with a large trout * BabyKoji slaps GMonkey around a bit with a large trout *Aussie* imported Cadbury's: not Cadbury's made by Hershey's for Pete's sake BabyKoji is a bit slap-happy right now. :) Karen had a little sheep and with this sheep she went to sleep. The sheep turned out to be a ram. Karen had a little lamb. &^&%@$&^$@^*%#$^*$$%&&! It's fleece was as yellow as gold I knew you'd like that. * BabyKoji slaps KidLaLa around a bit with a large trout and everywhere that Karen went * BabyKoji slaps Volterra around a bit with a large trout The lamb did try to be sold Volterra. Sorry! No offense meant. It followed her to the bar one day which was against the rule oh dear, now I've written myself into a corner But had to hang out with our gang, in order to be cool. I was trying to turn the lamb into stew never mind! HAHA * BabyKoji slaps Volterra around a bit with a large trout * BabyKoji slaps KidLaLa around a bit with a large trout * KidLaLa puts on her trout guard in a hurry. HOW RUDE!! oh dear .... have we upset her too much? She'll be back. She's just being dramatic. Most likely, MW. Any more takers on the get together in September. Bill seems to want to weasel out. *** BabyKoji (babyrain@stjhts01c02.nbnet.nb.ca) has joined #TOTGM re BK Feeling better? Oh, look at the sweet baby. *** KidLaLa sets mode: +o BabyKoji You guys are just picking on me because there's no one here to protect me. :( MWAHAHAHA. Your cowboy hasn't showed. :) No kidding. BTW, you're the one who brought up the sheep. :) I'm sad. Patience, children. Cowboys take their time, remember? If Tom were here, he would have made the sheep connection immediately. :) Montana, where men are men, and sheep are scared. The reason I brought up the sheep is because I have a sheep screen saver that was sent to me by someone from New Zealand. Funny. That's what we say about Sussex. :) Hee Hee. The name of the place being strictly a coincedence, eh? Actualy, the sheep run all over the desktop. It's really cute. They get beamed up into spaceships, yawn, sneeze. It's cute. Can you send it as an e-mail attachment? (hint, hint) Can you receive email attachments? Soitenly. Okay. YAHOO. Or should I say, BAAA. Any update on the sale of the Goose? Nope. Poo. I'd like to think it's being rescued by Monkiacs and returned to its original coloring. Volterra, no laundry today? :) I had a dream last night that Doug bought the Goose for me. Whatta guy! :) BK, how wonderful. MW, nice thinking. no laundry I'm going to start transcribing Lorie's lengthy novel tomorrow. Do we have a picture of the "Cutter's Goose" writing? You guys will all really like it, even though Corky is featured more prominently than Jake. on the plane? Easy enough to get. Ah, let me check. brb In my storybook. Or a photo capture from the Cooked Goose episode. I have one video capture from that episode. :) Just sent the sheep, by the way. Oh, has Leanne ever seen my goosebumps .bmp file? :) :) :) :) I've got the sheep! Thanks, BabyKoji. No problem. :) Leanne? Are you there? Has LaLa? Did I decline earlier? I thought you got the file, LaLa. Remember, you thought it was funny. BK, have you seen Independence Day? I loved the look on his face. Yup. Saw it in July. I'm here MW, I don't remember seeing it. Senile dementia I guess. I haven't seen the goosebumps file!!!! I'll send it again. Well, you *are* getting to be that age, LaLa. :) There's a great ID screen saver on the net you can download for free. Sob sob. I'll send it to you too, Volterra. brb thanks GM! MW, I'll hit you with my cane! :) brb I can hardly wait til you kids all get into your 40s. Boy, will I be laughing. (If I'm still alive.) :) Just you and me, BK. I feel like I'm about 90 today. Once the chat is over, I'm going to go take a nap. Sounds good to me. Otis is home with me now. So, aside from today, have you been behaving yourself? Never. Otis! How is he? back Me too. Obviously was not properly socialized. He's very scared and nervous and it will take time and patience to bring him around. He's really cute, though. Has he bitten you? Nope. Otis? Jake's never bitten me, either. Redding. Otis Ratting. My new rat. ah! :) I got it as a gift from Fred the snake's owner for snake sitting over the holidays. The man who is not Bahb. We'll have to hook up Tom and MW and then they can have their own page like you guys. :) Jinx all around. snort We all know that Tom really wants Karen. :( BK, get any on you? :) hey I got a sheep thing -- is that PC only? I'd be just a poor substitute. He likes exotic too MW. Oh shoot. I don't know if you can run it, Leanne. I forgot. Try it and see. well, I can probably run it on Dan's machine, if not mine Okay. Nice to have a backup, Leanne. :) hey, we have a screensaver of Macaroni doing the Macarena if anyone's interested! LOL. LaLa: one ofthe joys of a mixed marriage :) I've got that one, too. I laughed my head off the first time I saw it. If it will run on DOS, I'd love to see it! I sent it home to my brother so Mum could see it LaLa: I'll check the readme Thanks!! By the way, with the sheep thing? Each time you open the program, it'll give you another sheep. I have three right now. I'm assuming the program's shareware. Soon you'll have an entire flock. BK, hope so. Don't wanna be bad. Just call me Bo Peep. :) Well, about software anyway. Bowen got such a teensy little meow, he's often called Little Bo Squeak. LaLa" Macaroni doesn't run on DOS :( Thanks anyway, Leanne. I appreciate it. Guyus, I gotta go. Just got an email telling me to call Doug at the store. A likely story! Seriously. Okay. Dan says I'm making him too fat though :) That's your job. oh good :) I'm doing something right then! Volterra: Does that mean you won't be able to view Goosebumps? MW, are we making you hungry? No, I'm stuffed. Too much junk food today. Volterra, I'm sure you do everything right. You're going to Disneyland, aren't you? :) I experimented and made peanut butter choc chip cookies a few days ago LaLa: uh huh * KidLaLa stays away from peanut butter at all times. MW, what kind of junk food GM: I will ... but probably not before the chat's over PB is a Hubby Dan fave Doesn't he know what's in that stuff? Chocolate covered marshmallow cookies...baked potato crisps Peanuts? :) The amount of "impurities" allowed by law is enough to curl your hair! 10 minutes to the end of MonkeyChat. MW, those cookies sound pretty tasty. Nummy, nummy. :) Had to buy Swiss Miss hot cocoa with marshmallows to go with them. I found X-mas cookies on sale cheap and they are still fresh and making me happy. Hubby Dan disagrees: they only allow three rat hairs -- you inhale more if you're around a rat. * Volterra ducks Volterra, it's not the *hairs* that bother me! yeah, he's grossing me out So you can understand why I don't eat it. :) Hey, what time do you think we should start next Saturdays chat? Later. 10am PST. Volterra? Yes? So you kids won't get tired out before I can get in here. :) What time do you think we should start next Saturday's chat/ I thought it was supposed to start at 10am anyway? 10am is fine with me Goodie!
