that created real interest in the show

with Sarah, I wanted them to get together.  As a viewer (and 
a writer) I think it would've been series suicide.

<^otter> I liked the fact that we knew there was an attraction 
but it was always a future possibility

work?"

action/adventure

the relationships between the characters.

get Corky sober.
<^otter> I mean can ya see it, Mr. and Mrs. Cutter, sunday 
afternoon puttering on the goose, settled down, dinner with 
friends, it just woulda lost something
<BabyRain> and the possibilities of relationships between the 
characters
<GMonkey> Oh, I didn't say get 'em married.
<^otter> it was the possibilities that kept it sooo interesting
<GMonkey> But you can only drag out the "will they" storyline 
for so long.
<^otter> it also showed something positive in male/female 
relationship in that Jake and Sarah were friends
<GMonkey> But Jake and Sarah were always more than friends.
<^otter> I mean their friendship was real, not muddled down in 
hot-n-heavy
<GMonkey> If they had been introduced as just friends, then it 
really wouldn't matter.
<BabyRain> But they were friends, too.  It wasn't just some "I 
hate this man, I must sleep with him" kind of thing.
<^otter> yes that's the tension I speak of Pat, that held our 
interest

<GMonkey> But I never saw "tension".  I saw genuine affection 
and concern.
<GMonkey> And a genuine attraction, but attraction doesn't 
necessarily mean tension.
<^otter> the tension was subtle, it was what karen is saying, WE 
felt the tension, wanting them to get together, wondering if 
they would
<GMonkey> It would be tension if they both actively fought it.  
It didn't look like that they were fighting it too hard.
<^otter> for me, it really worked it was one of the brilliant 
strategies of the writers I think
<BabyRain> Question: in your opinion, in the pilot, why was 
Sarah knocking on Jake's door?  What, if anything, was she 
expecting?
<^otter> she was gonna make a pass at him

<BabyRain> I don't think so.
<^otter> the pilot set up the whole future of their interaction
<GMonkey> I don't know.  I think she definitely wanted to get 
closer too him, but just how close is subject to speculation.
<GMonkey> I don't think she wanted to sleep with him.
<^otter> if she wasn't at least hopeful in the pilot, why was 
she so bugged that the other woman was in there?
<GMonkey> Well, maybe she *wanted* to, but wouldn't have.
<BabyRain> I think she just wanted to be near him, talk to him, 
et cetera, and was jealous that someone else was.
<^otter> no not sleep with him, but she had a crush and it 
showed, she was at the very least moving towards romance
<BabyRain> I think she was hoping there was no one else, and she 
was disappointed/jealous.

bit of a rogue and she kept that in mind in future episodes

Bobbie hadn't been there.
