improved?
<BabyRain> I liked him better the other way, though.
<Volterra> He seems a lot more ... relaxed.
<GMonkey> But is that the way the character is written or SC?

<Volterra> in TOTGM, occasionally it's obvious he's trying to 
give something meaning (maybe it was the script) but in 7H 
he doesn't.
<BabyRain> Thank you. :)  I prefered the less-subdued acting 
style, but I think it was more a function of the writing.
<GMonkey> Well, the show's themselves have vastly different 
styles.
<BabyRain> And the character
<BabyRain> Jake Cutter is a very, very long way away from Eric 
Camden.
<Volterra> both characters still retain some sort of 
mischevious innocence though.
<Volterra> or idealism rather than innocence
<GMonkey> They're both dreamers to different extents.
<BabyRain> Can you picture Jake with kids?  Or in a collar?  
Yes, the idealism is still there.  I think that's the most 
appealing aspect of the characters.
<GMonkey> I could picture Jake with kids, actually.  Not five 
though. :)
<BabyRain> I think we're all dreamers at heart, but know that 
if we try to follow those dreams, we'll wind up being hurt 
or deceived or failing.
<Volterra> that's rather pessimistic
<BabyRain> The wonderful thing about Jake and Eric is that they 
don't care.
<GMonkey> But wasn't Jake a tad pessimistic?
<BabyRain> It's not that pessimistic.
<BabyRain> It just takes a long time to find out who you can 
trust and who you can't.  Then it's safe to follow your 
dreams.
<GMonkey> Now back to SC's acting, I thought that due to the 
nature of the show, he played Jake over the top at times.
<BabyRain> I didn't find Jake to be pessimistic.  A bit 
cynical, maybe, but even that word is too strong.
<GMonkey> Jaded, perhaps?
<BabyRain> Even that's too strong.  
<BabyRain> More of a "Here we go again" attitude. :)
<Volterra> I think Jake had a good dose of cynicism ... but 
only in certain cases.

lifetime.

killer as he ever wanted to meet."
<BabyRain> But that doesn't make him a bad person. :)
<GMonkey> He had to at least try to reason with him.  He had no 
other option.
